How do I change the title shown in my website's browser tab?

Your website's browser-tab title (also called the page title or SEO title) is the text visitors see in their browser tab. Search engines like Google also show it as the clickable headline in search results. Keeping it up to date matters for your branding. For example, if you've changed brokerages, you'll want the tab to show your new brokerage name, not your old one.

Your website has a site-wide title, and each page, including your Home page, can have its own title. A page title takes priority over the site-wide title. If the old name still shows after you update the site-wide title, check your page titles too, starting with your Home page.

These steps apply to EDGE, PREMIUM, and ELITE websites.

Change your site-wide title

  1. Sign in at www.get.realestate: click My Account in the top right corner and enter your account credentials.
  2. On your dashboard, click the blue Edit Website button to open your website editor.
  3. In the editor's left-side panel, click AEO/SEO.
  4. Click Optimization Center, then Additional Settings.
  5. Scroll to the Site Meta Data section at the bottom of the page.
  6. In the Site meta title field, enter your new title (for example, Jane Smith | ABC Realty). Try to keep it under 60 characters.
  7. Optional: update the Site meta description too. This is the short summary search engines may show under your title. Try to keep it under 160 characters.
  8. Click Publish to republish your website. Your new title won't appear until you republish.

Change your Home page (or another page's) title

  1. In the editor's left-side panel, click AEO/SEO.
  2. Click Optimization Center, then Page SEO.
  3. Select your Home page (or the page you want to update).
  4. Enter the new title in the page's meta title field. You can also update its meta description.
  5. Repeat for any other pages that still show the old name.
  6. Click Publish to republish your website.

Tip: If you leave a page's title blank, that page uses your site-wide title.

When will I see the new title?

  • In your browser: After you republish, refresh the page or open your website in a new browser window. If it still shows the old title, try clearing your browser's cache.
  • In search results: Search engines like Google can take several weeks to show your new title. This is normal and doesn't require any action from you.
